Operation Description

Chemical peeling is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment named after the acids used in it, which induce peeling. This process removes the surface layers of the skin, accelerating the removal of dead cells that are normally shed very slowly through the natural process. This allows the skin to renew its surface layer, resulting in smooth, radiant, and tightened skin. This treatment can be performed independently or in combination with mesotherapy. Chemical peeling can be applied to the facial, neck, and décolleté regions.

If you are interested in chemical peeling, come for a consultation with one of our expert dermatologists and aesthetic medicine specialists. They will assess your skin condition and explain all the details of this treatment. Schedule your consultation at +38169 3699801.

Types of chemical peels

  • Basic Chemical Peel, removes the surface layer of the skin. Suitable for oily and acne-prone skin.
  • Medium Intensity Chemical Peel, suitable for treating scars, often resulting from acne or hyperpigmentation, and deeper wrinkles.
  • Deep Chemical Peel, performed in hospital conditions under anesthesia. Ideal for very loose skin with deep wrinkles and acne scars. Suitable for treating serious sunburn scars.

At Colić Hospital, we use PRX-T 33 chemical peeling, consisting of 33% TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and hydrogen peroxide. This combination stimulates deeper layers of the skin and fibroblasts without affecting the skin barrier. PRX-T33 treatment is unique as it does not lead to peeling of the surface layers, as is the case with other treatments of this type. Additionally, this peeling can be used for all skin types throughout the year. It is recommended to undergo a series of 3 to 5 treatments over 2-3 weeks.

In addition to PRX-T33 chemical peeling, Colić Hospital uses surface Mesoestetic chemical peels (Mesopeel). These peels consist of various alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy fruit acids.

  • Mesopeel Glicolic, contains glycolic acid of various concentrations, applicable to all skin types.
  • Mesopeel Lactic, contains lactic acid suitable for sensitive, dry, and lifeless skin.
  • Mesopeel Salicylic and Mesopeel Mandelic, suitable for seborrheic and oily skin.

There are also combined peels such as Mesopeel Melanstop and Mesopeel Modified Jessner, designed to treat age spots from sun exposure and lifeless skin with uneven tone. They are applied over 2-4 weeks, 3-4 treatments.

Candidates

Chemical peeling can be an excellent choice for all skin types. Some situations where this treatment is particularly useful include:

  • Individuals who want to improve the appearance of their skin.
  • For individuals who want to address the consequences of acne; chemical peeling for scars is an ideal solution.
  • Individuals who want to treat hyperpigmentation (spots) on the skin.
  • Individuals who want to treat wrinkles and fine lines and slow down the aging of the skin.

The treatment is not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, or individuals with active skin inflammation.

Preparation

Chemical peeling does not involve any special preparation, except for an assessment of the skin's condition by the doctor, who then suggests the intensity of the peel to be applied. A skin sensitivity test is performed before the procedure. It is advisable to avoid sunbathing, alcohol consumption, and the use of aggressive cosmetics and makeup before treatment to ensure the skin is as clean as possible and ready for the procedure.

Operation time

The skin is primarily cleaned, disinfected, and prepared for treatment. The chemical solution or acid is applied to the skin and left on for up to 10 minutes. After this period, the acids are neutralized with another solution. The next part of the treatment involves skincare, where various moisturizing, soothing, and nourishing products are applied. The treatment ends with a facial mask, which is left on for about 20 minutes, followed by the application of sunscreen. The treatment takes about an hour.

Recovery

After treatment, mild redness and peeling of the skin may occur. This is a normal reaction that gradually fades over the next few days. It is essential to know that chemical peeling and sun exposure should never go hand in hand. It is advisable to avoid exposure and use sun protection to allow the treated skin to recover successfully. Recovery from superficial peeling is shorter, around 2 days, while recovery from medium peeling takes about 10 days.

For a mild peel, it is recommended to repeat it 3 to 5 times a year. Medium peeling should be repeated every 4-6 months, while deep peeling is advisable to undergo once every few years if the doctor deems it necessary.

Safety precautions

Chemical peeling carries no special risks when performed by professional medical staff. The expected sensation during the treatment, when the acid solution is applied to the skin, is mild tingling and tightening, which stops when the acid-neutralizing solution is applied. Expert doctors at Colić Hospital will provide you with all instructions for skin care after chemical peeling, and by carefully following these guidelines, there should be no issues.

Price

The cost of a chemical peel is 80 euros.
