Lip Augmentation
Operation Description
Lip augmentation at Colić Hospital is performed using hyaluronic acid. This involves the application of fillers in the form of injections evenly on specific parts of the upper and lower lips. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the human body, keeping the skin hydrated, firm, and radiant, making its use in aesthetic medicine very safe.
At Colić Hospital we use Restylane hyaluronic acid fillers of the latest generation, recognized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as highly effective in providing a natural look to the lips. What is specific to this type of filler is that it contains small particles, making it ideal for precise and detailed lip contouring.
Candidates
- Individuals with naturally thin lips
- Those who want to emphasize specific parts of the lips
- Individuals looking to correct existing lip asymmetry
- Those whose lips have lost volume due to aging
Preparation
Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid does not require any special preparation. During consultations, the doctor will check with the patient if they are allergic to any of the filler ingredients.
It is essential to agree on the amount of filler to be used before the procedure. It is advisable to start with smaller amounts and gradually increase if there is a need and the patient desires it.
Additionally, regardless of the difference in the size of the upper and lower lip, an equal amount of hyaluronic acid is used for both lips in the first treatment to achieve greater symmetry later.
Operation time
The doctor will apply a anesthetic cream to the prepared lips to make the filler application as painless as possible. After 15 minutes, the lips are cleaned again, and the application of dermal fillers begins using thin needles. The treatment may be slightly uncomfortable, with a total duration of approximately 30 minutes.
Recovery
After the lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid treatment, the patient can immediately return to their daily activities. No special recovery is needed, but it is advisable to avoid using makeup and aggressive cosmetics for the first 24 hours.
Mild redness, lip swelling, and small bruises may occur immediately after the treatment, most of which will subside within 48 hours. After this period, the lips will achieve their true appearance.
Safety precautions
In addition to the expected redness, swelling, and small bruises that quickly fade, no serious complications are expected after the application of hyaluronic acid fillers.
Patients should avoid pressing, rubbing, or massaging their lips to prevent the hyaluronic acid from spreading unevenly. After the filler application, the doctor will massage the patient's lips to ensure proper distribution of hyaluronic acid.
Furthermore, it is advisable for the patient to avoid consuming alcohol and blood-thinning medications (aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen) to prevent them from affecting the prolonged duration of bruises, swelling, and redness.
Using dermal fillers during pregnancy is not recommended. Additionally, hyaluronic acid and breastfeeding should not be combined.
