ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BREAST LIFT OR BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Perhaps you are not sure if you are a suitable candidate or which aesthetic procedure is right for you, or you are questioning whether it will make you happier and more satisfied with your appearance. There are ways to find out and decide if plastic surgery can meet your needs and if aesthetic surgery is truly what you need. We are here to answer these questions and help you make a decision. To start with, the most important thing is that plastic surgery, specifically breast surgery, is your desire!
Who needs breast augmentation, and who needs a breast lift?
Breasts, their shape, and size have changed over the years due to various factors. If you are burdened by the size and appearance of your breasts to the point where these thoughts create insecurity and jeopardize your happiness, and you want to get rid of the disproportionate structure and asymmetry of the breasts, achieve a larger volume, or restore the firmness and shape lost due to factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, aging, and similar reasons, aesthetic surgery offers various solutions that will restore your confidence and provide you with the look you've dreamed of.
Breast Augmentation (Augmentation):
Breast augmentation is performed by inserting implants and aims to bring about a change in size, proportional breasts, and harmony of the body structure. This step is usually chosen by younger women who want to look more attractive. Women in middle age are generally concerned with having firm breasts without sagging skin. Breast lift (mastopexy/suspension) is a procedure that can solve such issues. Techniques for breast lift can sometimes include implant placement, depending on your desires and the available breast tissue.
Breast Augmentation - Who are the best candidates, and what is the procedure like?
Besides the fact that breast correction or augmentation should be exclusively your desire due to dissatisfaction with their size, improvement of shape, or the existence of asymmetry, the best candidates are those in good general health, women whose breasts have fully developed, who are not pregnant and do not breastfeed, and who have precise ideas and realistic expectations regarding breast size after the operation. If you meet these conditions, the next step is a consultation with the surgeon and a thorough understanding of the procedure.
In our hospital, the operation is carried out using implants with silicone gel. The most common operative technique involves making an incision about 4 cm long in the inframammary fold, through which the prosthesis is placed under the muscle or the mammary gland. Besides this operative technique, the periareolar technique or implant insertion from the armpit can be applied, depending on your desires and the previously available breast tissue.
Breast augmentation is a procedure performed under general anesthesia and takes about one to one and a half hours. After the operation, wearing a bra is recommended. You can return to regular life activities in just a few days, while the stitches will be removed after two weeks.
Who is a candidate for a breast lift, and how is this procedure performed?
Due to aging and the natural loss of skin elasticity, but also after losing weight, after pregnancy and breastfeeding, some women may face the problem of sagging breasts and changes in their size, position, and firmness. If this is your case, you are a good candidate for a procedure such as a breast lift. The operation removes excess skin around the breasts, and it is possible to reduce the size of the areolas. Also, breast lift can be combined with procedures such as breast reduction or breast augmentation, which should be discussed with the chosen surgeon beforehand. The goal of this procedure is, of course, reshaping or lifting the breasts, making them naturally firmer, rounder, and more youthful.
There are many operative techniques for this procedure, and the technique applied in your case depends on the nature and degree of skin laxity, measured by the position of the nipples. The most common techniques in our hospital are:
- "Inverted T" – a procedure where there is a circular scar around the nipple, one horizontal in the fold under the breast, and one vertical scar,
- Vertical technique – involves a circular scar around the nipple and a vertical scar from the nipple downwards, which initially has fewer folds around it and disappears over time,
- Periareolar technique – after this technique, you will only have a circular scar around the nipples, which also has folds around it initially, but they will disappear over time. However, this technique is not suitable for very large breasts.
The operation takes two and a half to three and a half hours and is performed under general anesthesia. After the operation, wearing a bra is recommended, and you can return to regular life activities after 5 to 7 days. Stitch removal is done two weeks after the operation.
