What is Mastopexy?

How to Lift Breasts?

Breast lift surgery is usually performed using one of three techniques, depending on the size and shape of the breasts. The operative techniques include:

1. Inverted-T Technique: This technique leaves a circular scar around the nipples, as well as one horizontal (in the crease under the breast) and one vertical scar.
2. Vertical Technique: This involves a circular scar around the nipples and a vertical scar below it. Initially, folds may be visible, but they gradually disappear over time.
3. Periareolar Technique: Not suitable for extremely large breasts, and only a circular scar around the nipples is visible, with initial folds that diminish over time.

This surgery is performed under general anesthesia and may last about 2.5-3.5 hours.

Breast Lift - Before and After

Before the surgery, expect your doctor to provide detailed information about the procedure, conditions under which it is performed, duration, postoperative course, recovery length, postoperative behavior, and potential complications. You have the right to ask your doctor any questions about the intervention.

After the surgery, the recovery is fast, and you can return to regular activities within 5 to 7 days. Stitches are removed after two weeks, during which wearing a bra is recommended. Like any surgical intervention, breast lift surgery has rare complications, including a possible temporary disturbance in nipple sensitivity, mild swelling, and a feeling of tension. Changes in nipple sensitivity usually resolve after 4-6 weeks but may last up to 6 months in some cases.

Breast Augmentation through Surgery

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, is performed to change and improve the shape, i.e., increasing the volume of the breasts by inserting implants with silicone gel above or below the chest muscle. To enable this, a common incision is made beneath the breast, approximately 4 cm in length, to make the scar almost invisible. The mammary gland remains untouched during this procedure.

In addition to this operative technique, implants can be inserted through the nipples or from the armpits, which is more commonly applied to women with underdeveloped breasts, where any incision would otherwise be visible. The procedure takes up to 1.5 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.

Return to everyday activities is possible after a few days, and stitches are removed after 2 weeks. In the meantime, it is recommended to wear a bra. Potential complications may include slight swelling and a feeling of tension, as well as changes in nipple sensitivity, which usually resolve after 4-6 weeks and, in some cases, can last up to 6 months.
