HOW IS EAR SURGERY DONE

WHEN IS EAR SURGERY PERFORMED?

Experience indicates that this surgery is most commonly conducted in the following cases:

  1. If the ears are of asymmetrical shape.
  2. When the angle between the ears and the head is greater than desired or unequal in both ears.
  3. In the event of an accident causing injury to the ear or loss of a part of the ear.

Children under the age of 5 should not undergo this procedure since their ears are still in development. Around the age of five, the ears assume their final shape, and correction can be performed.

The Colić Aesthetic Surgery Clinic performs the surgery under local anesthesia, and the procedure itself takes about an hour for both ears. In exceptional cases, if the surgery is performed on younger children who are not mentally prepared, the procedure may be carried out under general anesthesia.

The procedure consists of several steps: planning, the surgical procedure itself, and recovery after surgery.

First step: Making a plan

The client's first task is to decide on the clinic where they want to undergo the operation and then choose a surgeon with whom they have complete confidence. The Colić Aesthetic Surgery Clinic, located in the center of Belgrade, has a team of experts with decades of experience and a commitment to making their clients happy and satisfied.

After the selection, the client will have a consultation with the surgeon and preoperative examinations will be performed to determine which operative techniques need to be carried out to fulfill the client's wishes.

A detailed plan of operative techniques and the goal to be achieved will be jointly developed by the client and the surgeon. Afterward, the surgery takes place.

Second step: Surgical procedure

Since protruding ears have a larger angle between the ear shell and the head, the goal of the surgery is to reduce that angle and correct the shape of the ear shells if necessary.

The ear surgery involves a procedure where the surgeon first removes excess skin behind the ear to access the cartilage. Subsequently, with precise movements, the surgeon reshapes the ear cartilage to achieve the desired contour and establish a normal angle between the ear shell and the head.

Afterward, stitches are applied, and the ears are fixed with bandages to maintain their desired shape. It is important to note that the surgery does not cause any damage to hearing in the slightest percentage.

Third step: Recovery after surgery

After the operation, the ears will be fixed to maintain their desired shape and prevent injury, primarily during dressing and sleeping. It is essential to sleep on the back in the first days and weeks after the operation to avoid pressure on any ear.

The bandage is removed after seven days, and for several weeks afterward, it is advisable to wear a headband during sleep to avoid any bending of the ears. After removing the bandage, the ears will be red and swollen, so cold compresses and rest will help reduce swelling quickly and make the recovery more pleasant. The stitches are removed two weeks after the operation, allowing the patient to gradually return to their usual lifestyle.

Ear surgery at the Colić Clinic

Protruding ears can indeed be a significant aesthetic problem, but studies show that a large percentage of people fear procedures such as ear surgery. The price a person pays for dissatisfaction with their physical appearance is undermined self-confidence, which can further negatively impact all aspects of life.

Unfortunately, technology has not yet advanced enough, so aesthetic surgery still relies on operative techniques. The good news is that private clinics invest significant resources to make the space dedicated to patients as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

The Colić Aesthetic Surgery Clinic features a luxurious space of 400 m2, where everything is geared toward the comfort and safety of patients – from state-of-the-art medical equipment to special rooms for preparation, operative procedures, and recovery. All the client needs to do is make a decision. Let the experts handle the rest.
