NOSE SURGERY - EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW

Why is nose plastic surgery (rhinoplasty) done, and who are potential candidates?
What some people consider beautiful may not be aesthetically appealing to everyone. Tastes vary, and when it comes to appearance, beauty is a highly debatable matter. The same goes for individual body parts. However, the problem arises when you believe that something about you is not beautiful, affecting your mood, diminishing self-confidence, and potentially impacting your overall quality of life! If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your nose for any reason, or certain deformities cause health problems, rhinoplasty or nose plastic surgery is ideal for correcting these imperfections. When it comes to nose surgery, the best surgeon will point out whether you are a suitable candidate for this procedure. If you have any of these problems, you certainly are:
- Breathing and snoring problems,
- Deviation or post-traumatic deformity of the nose,
- Prominent hump on the nose,
- Nose that is too long or too short,
- Wide nose, enlarged nostrils,
- Thickened or pointed nose tip,
- Rounded, bent, or asymmetrical nose tip,
- Anything you consider a flaw on your nose that affects your appearance.
Regarding the age of potential candidates, it is never too late for nose plastic surgery, but rhinoplasty has a lower limit – you need to wait until the natural growth process is complete, which is around 15-16 years for girls and 18 years for boys. When it comes to nose surgery, the best surgeon can correct more than one flaw during a single procedure, and rhinoplasty can be combined with other surgeries such as chin correction, eyelid surgery, and other facial procedures. However, when it comes to nose surgery, the best surgeon who can correct all your flaws and make you satisfied with your facial appearance is one who has enough experience, understanding of your desires and needs, as well as talent and an aesthetic sense! Because nose plastic surgery or rhinoplasty is a very complex process, one of the most complex in aesthetic surgery, as it requires shaping not only soft tissues but also the bones and cartilage of the nose.
Nose Surgery – Recovery after the Procedure
When you decide to correct your nose surgically, you must go through a specific procedure and follow the steps that lead to the best possible results! The first among them is the consultation because when it comes to nose surgery, the best surgeon is the one who will listen to your doubts and needs, conduct a nose examination, and provide adequate answers and solutions to your problem. During consultations, it is necessary to provide the surgeon with information about your overall health, problems, possible therapies, allergies, injuries, and previous surgeries, if any, as well as any other essential factors that may affect the outcome of the operation and lead to potential risks that every surgery carries.
Nose plastic surgery is most often performed under general anesthesia, while in rare cases, it can be done under local anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the procedure. Rhinoplasty, or nose correction, is performed in our hospital "Colić" through incisions inside the nostrils, which do not leave external scars, making it possible to change the shape and position of the cartilage and nose bones. Nose plastic surgery can last from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the necessary corrections. After the intervention, tampons are placed in the nasal passages, and a compressive mask is applied to the outside of the nose.
When it comes to nose surgery, recovery is not something to worry about. You need to follow instructions and advice, and after 2 weeks, you can return to your regular activities, with a more attractive appearance and increased self-confidence! When nose surgery is mentioned, recovery includes the following:
- For the first two weeks after the operation, you need to breathe through your mouth, and rest and sleep should be accompanied by placing a high pillow on the bed or chair. Seven days after nose surgery, recovery also involves removing tampons and a compressive mask from the nose. Avoid hot baths and steam showers, as this can lead to the tampons and mask falling off, which should not happen in the first few days!
- Swelling and bruising under the eyes occur during the first weeks after surgery, so apply cold compresses over your eyes to reduce their appearance. However, swelling and bruising subside after 2-3 weeks after the operation. Headaches are also possible.
- For several weeks after the operation, it is advisable to refrain from strenuous physical activities, blowing your nose, and abruptly pulling clothing over your nose to avoid bleeding and swelling. Avoid wearing glasses and sunglasses for a month.
- Postoperative discipline and adherence to prescribed advice and therapy will lead to the fastest possible recovery and maximum results. The final results will be visible after swelling and bruising disappear.
How much does nose surgery cost? For those wondering how much nose surgery costs, we must say that a more attractive appearance, improved breathing functions, and increased self-confidence are priceless. Many factors influence how much nose surgery costs, one of which is the complexity of the procedure, i.e., how much nose correction is needed! The cost of nose surgery includes a complete service – from consultation, all preparations for surgery, through anesthesia, the operation itself, possible outpatient treatment, to training after the nose surgery – recovery must be adequately monitored, requiring quality counseling, as well as all checks and consultations in the first few weeks or months after the surgery. The answer to how much nose surgery costs in our hospital "Colić" is around €2500, but this is an individual matter.
