Operation Description

Increasing buttocks with fat tissue is a surgical procedure also known as lipofilling. The goal of the procedure is to tighten, increase volume, and improve the shape of the buttocks using the patient's fat tissue, making the result appear very natural. Gluteoplasty is a method suitable for patients who want to enhance their buttocks without the use of silicone implants. Fat tissue is typically harvested from specific areas of the body, most commonly the abdomen or inner thighs. The key to this procedure is the transfer of both fat cells and adipocytes from areas with a surplus to the buttock areas lacking volume.

Candidates

Ideal candidates for buttock augmentation with fat tissue may include:

  • Individuals who are bothered by a flat buttock and desire a rounded shape.
  • Individuals with buttocks that are small in proportion to the body.
  • Individuals with poorly developed gluteal muscles.
  • Individuals experiencing sagging and loss of buttock shape due to weight loss or pregnancy.
  • Individuals who are dissatisfied with the size, shape, and position of their buttocks.
  • Individuals wishing to correct existing asymmetry.
  • Individuals who prefer buttock enhancement without the use of implants.
  • Individuals with a sufficient amount of fat in donor areas.

Preparation

Buttock augmentation surgery involves specific preparatory steps. Since the procedure is performed under general anesthesia, laboratory tests and an internist examination with an ECG recording are necessary. It is recommended to quit smoking a month before the surgery and stop taking aspirin and herbal supplements that may affect blood coagulation two weeks before the operation.

Operation time

Regarding fat transfer to the buttocks, the procedure involves, after inducing the patient into general anesthesia, the collection of fat from the selected region. Micro-incisions are first made through which necessary amounts of fat tissue are collected using thin tubes (cannulas). The harvested fat is processed and transferred to the buttocks, evenly distributed to the areas requiring reshaping. The transfer is done through injections that create small openings in the skin, eliminating the need for stitching. This procedure can last up to 3 hours, depending on the applied method and the amount of fat being transferred.

Recovery

After buttock augmentation with fat tissue surgery, the patient stays overnight at our facility. Mild swelling and bruising may occur after the procedure, but they tend to subside quickly. Sitting may be uncomfortable initially, so it is advisable to avoid sitting and lying down without pressure on the buttocks during the early recovery period.

Throughout the recovery period, the patient wears a compressive garment to reduce swelling. Recovery time varies individually, but most patients return to work and regular activities within 2 weeks. To facilitate a smoother and faster recovery, it is necessary to avoid strenuous activities and lifting heavy objects during the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Safety precautions

Expected after the procedure are mild swelling and bruising, which subside quickly. Additionally, activating the gluteal muscles during sitting, walking, and lying down may cause more intense pain. Therefore, the patient needs to rest as much as possible and lie on the stomach to avoid pressure on the buttocks.

Since the procedure uses the patient's fat tissue, there are no specific risks associated with it if performed by expert doctors, as expected in Colić Hospital.

Some amount of transferred fat tissue may lose vitality during the transfer. Therefore, it might be necessary to repeat the procedure to achieve and maintain the desired results.
