Lip lift
Operation Description
Surgical lifting of the upper lip gives a more beautiful, fuller, and younger appearance to the lips, by reducing the gap between the nose and upper lip.
What is a Lip Lift?
Surgical lip lifting, also known as a lip lift, is a procedure during which the upper lip is surgically raised. The goal of the procedure is to augment the upper lip. This procedure can be combined with hyaluronic fillers for even better results. It's important to note that a lip lift provides permanent results, while lip volume can be even more increased with hyaluronic acid. This is what makes this procedure highly popular in the world of aesthetics.
Candidates
Lip lift surgery is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance appearance, contours, and volume of lips. Some parameters for ideal candidates include:
- Individuals who want to increase lip volume
- Individuals who want the effect of lifted lips
- Individuals with a thin upper lip and sufficient space between the nose and the top of the upper lip
- Individuals experiencing lip sagging due to aging
Candidates for surgical lip lifting cannot have less than 6 millimeters of space between the base of the nose and the upper lip.
Preparation
The lip lift operation does not require any special preparation. It is recommended to stop taking aspirin and herbal supplements that may affect blood clotting and complicate the operative and postoperative course two weeks before the surgery.
Operation time
Surgical lifting of the upper lip is performed under local anesthesia. A part of the skin tissue along the edge of the nose is removed, and the remaining skin is lifted and stitched, thereby raising the upper lip. After removal, at least 6 millimeters of space should remain between the base of the nose and the upper lip. The duration of the lip lift procedure is about an hour.
Recovery
Recovery from lip lifting takes a minimum of 14 days. The stitches are self-absorbing and do not need to be removed. Thanks to this, the scar that normally occurs after this procedure looks much better and is less visible.
Safety precautions
After surgical lip lift, mild bruising, swelling, and redness are expected, which should subside after a few days. If necessary, cold compresses can be used. More serious complications, such as infections, persistent swelling, or numbness of the upper lip, are rare. Therefore, it is important to follow the preoperative and postoperative advice of the doctors at Colić Hospital.
