Buttock Augmentation with Implants
Operation Description
Surgical buttock augmentation is a procedure designed to lift, increase volume, and improve the shape of the buttocks. This procedure involves the use of implants, specifically silicone implants, to give the buttocks a new appearance.
Buttock implants, or prostheses, are typically placed either under the muscle fascia or within the gluteus maximus muscle. Silicone implants vary in size, shape (anatomical or round), and texture (smooth or textured). During consultations with our doctors, they will assess your current buttock shape and size, the development of gluteal muscles, as well as the quality of skin and subcutaneous fat. Additionally, your current height and weight are essential factors in deciding on the type, size, and placement of implants.
At Colić Hospital, buttock augmentation is performed in two ways: using implants or the patient's fat tissue. If you are considering this procedure, schedule a consultation where one of our expert doctors will discuss the details of the procedure with you and help you make an informed decision. Candidates
Ideal candidates include:
- Individuals dissatisfied with a flat buttock appearance, seeking a rounded shape
- Individuals with small buttocks in proportion to their body
- Individuals with poorly developed gluteal muscles
- Individuals experiencing sagging and loss of buttock shape due to weight loss or pregnancy
- Individuals unhappy with the size, shape, and position of their buttocks
- Individuals wanting to correct existing asymmetry
Preparation
Preparing for buttock surgery involves several steps. As the procedure is performed under general anesthesia, laboratory analyses and a medical examination with an ECG are necessary. It is recommended to quit smoking a month before surgery, and the intake of aspirin and herbal supplements that may affect blood coagulation should cease two weeks before.
Operation time
Plastic surgery of the buttocks involves making an incision in the intergluteal region or 1 cm from it on both sides after the patient is under general anesthesia. The incisions are made to be nearly imperceptible. Implants are then placed in the agreed-upon location, either under the fascia of the large gluteal muscle or within it. The incisions are sutured, concluding the procedure. The surgery lasts about an hour and a half.
Recovery
After buttock augmentation surgery, the patient stays overnight at our facility. We strive to provide exceptional service, ensuring the patient's stay is as comfortable as possible.
Swelling, bruising, and difficulty sitting are expected symptoms after buttock augmentation with implants. These symptoms gradually improve and completely fade within one to two weeks, with medications available if necessary.
During the recovery period, the patient wears a special medical compression garment that will hold the implants in place for as long as needed for the body to adjust to them. The recovery time is individual and depends on the patient. Most individuals return to work and daily activities within two weeks. However, it is advisable to avoid strenuous efforts and heavy lifting for the next 6 to 8 weeks. After 7 days from the surgery, when the incision has fully healed, the patient comes for suture removal.
Safety precautions
Expected after the procedure are mild swelling and bruising, which quickly subside. Additionally, activating the gluteal muscles and applying pressure during sitting, walking, and lying down can cause more intense pain. Therefore, the patient needs to rest as much as possible and lie on their stomach to avoid pressure on the buttocks.
Every surgical procedure carries certain risks, including the possibility of complications such as infections, bleeding, swelling, implant displacement, and unwanted reactions to anesthesia. With the top-notch team at Colić Hospital, these complications are rare, and by following our advice, including preoperative and postoperative preparations, it is possible to completely avoid these risks.
Patients must know that several years after buttock implant surgery, it may be necessary to replace them. To ensure the longest possible duration of implants, it is essential for the patient not to gain excessive weight after surgery, as it can alter the shape and size of the buttocks. Moreover, the patient needs to be physically active after the recovery period.
