Operation Description
Thigh lift, or thighplasty (thigh skin tightening), is an aesthetic procedure that removes excess skin and fatty tissue from the inner thighs. This procedure significantly enhances the appearance of the thighs, making them firm, tight, and rejuvenated. Preparation
Before scheduling thigh skin tightening surgery, the patient undergoes a thorough examination and consultations with the surgeon. After the examination and discussion with the surgeon, the patient follows preoperative preparation, including an examination by a cardiologist, an anesthesiologist, and necessary laboratory tests.
To prevent increased bleeding risk, it is necessary to stop taking medications and supplements affecting blood clotting, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and others, ten days before the procedure. Additionally, smokers are advised to quit at least one month before to ensure a smoother operation and recovery.
Operation time
The removal of excess skin from the thighs is performed under general anesthesia. During the surgery preparation, the surgeon identifies precise areas from which excess skin needs to be removed and marks them. The incision, if removing larger amounts of skin, usually extends from the groin to the knee, while smaller amounts may only require a groin incision. Once all excess skin is removed, the incisions are stitched with absorbable sutures that do not need to be removed but dissolve in the body. The surgery lasts about 2 hours.
Recovery
After the surgery, the patient stays overnight in our hospital. Bruising and swelling may occur after thigh lift, but they gradually subside and disappear within a few weeks. It is advisable for patients to rest as much as possible during the first 2 weeks post-surgery, and the overall recovery takes 4 to 6 weeks. During this period, the patient will wear a special compression garment and should avoid intense physical activity and lifting heavy objects.
Safety precautions
As with any surgical procedure, there is a small risk of complications during the recovery process from thighplasty. These may include infections, bleeding, swelling, and unwanted reactions to anesthesia.
