Brow Lift
Operation Description
Surgical eyebrow lifting, or brow lift, is a simpler surgical procedure that involves making one to three small incisions through which thin threads are threaded under the skin from the forehead to the hairy part of the head, where they are secured. The number of incisions depends on whether a lift of the entire eyebrows or only the outer parts, i.e., the corners of the eyebrows, is needed. As a result, lifted eyebrows leave more space beneath them, particularly in the eyelid area. The lifting of eyebrows also slightly tightens the forehead, which can impact the visibility of frown lines between the eyebrows.
Lifting and tightening the eyebrows are often performed in combination with other procedures, typically facelift or blepharoplasty, which is the correction of upper and lower eyelids.

Candidates
- Individuals dissatisfied with the shape of their eyebrows
- Individuals who feel that their eyebrows convey a facial expression they dislike (angry, tired)
- Individuals who wish to emphasize their eyes more
- Individuals who desire a firmer region around the eyebrows and eyes
- Individuals experiencing facial sagging due to aging, affecting the eyebrows
Preparation
Since eyebrow lifting is a surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia, there is no need for any special preparation. The patient should be well-rested, refrain from using aggressive cosmetics that could irritate the skin a few days before the procedure, and avoid taking aspirin and other herbal supplements that may affect blood clotting and complicate the preoperative and postoperative course of the procedure.
Operation time
When lifting the entire eyebrows, three small incisions are made above the eyebrows through which threads are threaded to the hairy part of the head, where they will be secured. The surgeon carefully determines how and how much the threads will be threaded to ensure symmetrical eyebrows. If lifting only the outer parts or corners of the eyebrows is needed, only one incision is made, and the thread is threaded to the hairy part of the head and secured there. The procedure takes about 30 minutes.
Recovery
Regarding brow lift, recovery does not impact daily activities. Immediately after eyebrow lifting, the patient can go home without any special recovery methods. It is advisable to avoid intense physical activity, pools, and saunas, and minimize the use of forehead and eyebrow muscles for several days after the procedure. Using aggressive cosmetics and makeup should also be avoided at the beginning of the recovery.
Safety precautions
Eyebrow lifting is considered a surgical procedure, but it is not overly invasive or demanding, and therefore, it does not carry any complications. It is possible that mild sensitivity, bruising, swelling, or redness may occur in the eyebrow area after the procedure, but this usually resolves within 1-2 days. It is important to note that immediately after the surgery, the eyebrows will appear more lifted than intended, but as days and weeks pass, they will gradually lower to the desired level.
